A little bit about us + our mission

I’m Jenny, owner of the brand, wifey + mama of three. If I'm not wrangling babes, I'm party planning, dreaming up something new for my shop, or covered in flour! Family is the biggest part of my life and making memories with the ones I love is kind of my jam. I’m a Texas gal and grew up singing Garth Brooks and George Strait like it was my job. When I hear the song “Friends in Low Places,” I’m instantly back in my childhood kitchen, baking a fresh loaf of banana nut bread with my mom while my dad serenades us over his invisible microphone. Yes, those were the good ole’ days. I have endured a lot of heartache over the years, but the one constant has always been FAMILY. So when I met my family-loving husband, Robert, I knew he was the one! I'm convinced we have the three SWEETEST babes on Earth: Beckham, who is our Hot Mess Express but also the best Big Bro ever, and our two -year old twin babes, Parker and Emery, who are gorgeous and sassy and boss us around on the reg. Becoming a mama to these three has made all of my dreams come true (and their daddy is the best catch, too)! A lot of what you will find in our shop is inspired by this little trio!

 Our mission..

I know I can't fix the whole world, but darn it, I'm going to try! Roots was founded as a way to honor our parents who are no longer with us, and honestly, keeping focus on this mission has been incredibly healing as well. My dad lost his life to suicide in 2009 at just 49 years old, my mother in law passed away in 2016 at 69, and my mom was killed by a drunk driver in 2017 at just 56 years old- grief, trauma + overcoming those things has been a big factor in my life, and I will fight to the end of time to help other people trying to navigate similar paths while raising awareness to preventable devastations.

Our mission is HUGE! We have plans to open three memorials in memory of our parents, and cannot wait to put them to work in the community.

The David Wayne Rhoades memorial fund in honor of my dad, and will assist individuals and families impacted by mental illness and addiction.

The Annette Rhoades-Burkhart Memorial Fund in honor of my mom, will help raise awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving and assist families who have lost loved ones to impaired driving.

The Cam Le Memorial Fund in honor of my mother in law, will sponsor families who have relocated to the United States from Vietnam, helping them grow in their communities and establish a clear pathway to a better life.

These funds are so incredibly near and dear to our hearts, and the true driving force of this brand. We truly have such big plans for them, and absolutely cannot wait to bring them to fruition. Our first campaign for the David Wayne Rhoades memorial was a huge success, and have dedicated 10% of all sales during the month of September (Suicide Awareness Month) to go directly into this fund. There will be announcements coming soon on more campaigns, events, and ways in which you can help if you feel called to join our mission. Be sure to follow us on social media to stay in the loop- we are just getting started!
